Welcome to the Bird-Brained Ramblings of Christopher L. Finch!

I made it a goal this Labor Day weekend to finally join the blogging world and this little introductory blurb serves as my "mission completed" post! More importantly... since completing my dissertation in 2013, I have had a desire to add my voice to the education conversation and I hope that through this blog I can stand on the shoulders of others (thanks for the phrase, Marla!) and lend my voice to the chorus of advocates for children and for education.

The challenging part of my adventure in making this blog has really been deciding what to write about and how to get connected to others. I imagine both will come with time and, hopefully, this blog will serve to support advocates of education everywhere. I want to thank Marla Israel (former Professor and my dissertation chairperson at Loyola University Chicago) for encouraging me to write and share when I really never believed I could write or had anything worth sharing. I also want to express appreciation to Dale Truding who I have recently had the privilege of meeting. She, too, has provide encouragement to get connected to the conversations surrounding education and is an endless source of inspiration and information.

I am not sure how this will evolve over time, but I am sure I will live up to the name of the site and fill it with all sorts of bird-brained ramblings. Perhaps even a person or two will come along, read it, and join my conversation.
